I trying to gather parts for a buddy, to build a wheeler , so far we have:
80s Blazer
383 chev
700r4 tranny outa a 94 PU with a drivers drop transcase into a
Dodge divorced pass drop Transcase, for a doubler setup
Dana 60 rear with a detroit in it.

My Question We have an opportunity to get a early 90s dodge (the newer body style) 2500 cummins front axle.
Is the front axle on coil springs or leafs.
Any thoughts on putting it under the blazer.
The dodge chassis is actually spoken for, so we cant use it all.
Thanks

yes they use coils. I dont see why you couldnt cut the coil mounts off and weld on some leaf mounts.

94 and up dodge front axles would have coils on the front, unit bearings, probably has a vaccum disconnect. It's not ideal, but if it's a good deal it might be worth cutting the coil buckets off and putting some perches on, rig up the vacuum disconnect fork thing so it's always connected, and go wheeling. No lockouts.

The 1st gen (up to 93) ones had leaf springs, lockouts and no vacuum disco... but the widths are a little different from the chevy ones, if I remember right. Check out the 60 bible on Pirate.

That dodge axle will be drivers drop so that divorced casw will need to either be clocked or replaced with a ford case...

In you first post you said newer body style which started in 94. 94+ is driver drop. 93 and prior is passenger drop leaf sprung. So yes I am sure about that. :D

Gotcha. It must be a 94 of newer then.
Guess we will have to run the D44 for now.
Thats OK cause I already got the gears to match the D60.
